Hi Jace,
The reason it was cut was the grab was glued at the factory. Not sure if this
was common in that production run, but it was a PITA to remove.
I've also had a similar problem with one of the AF pilot screws when I've tried
to remove it. The head, as it turn out, was striped and the solution was that
someone at the factory glued in the screw.
FWIW-I had bought the unit NIB at a local hobby shop (New Brookland Railroad &
Hobby in West Columbia, SC), so I can attest that this was NOS that was sitting
for years on the shelf.
