I've bought four of Don's EMD switchers and agree it is fiddly to get the rear
handrails out of the frame (or battery box), and usually I do
end up touching up the paint anyway, but that is the only way to get the
shorting plug installed for scale operation (or installing a DCC decoder if one
goes that route). Don may have replacement handrails left in stock, or they
aren't that difficult to fabricate.

I hope someone is eagerly contemplating how that nice purple and silver scheme
will look on his railroad so this minor problem will not
prove insurmountable.
