I think we are talking at cross-purposes here; I don't recall objecting to the 
cost of this particular kit (which I have
not seen, nor apparently anyone except the original poster), but rather to the 
choice of prototype as not being
especially useful for most S scale modelers.  In fact, I spoke highly of the 
quality of a similar kit selling for about
the same price.
And not everyone necessarily wants a superkit with all the added details; 
sometimes a basic structure suffices.
