I find it interesting that Mr. Heimberger has divided his little 
magazine empire by putting NG in one pub and Standard Gauge in the 
other, while 1/64's are separated scale from the hirail crowd very much 
like 3/16's, and two version of the Modeler's guide under Wade and 
Bendever\ before that.  Unfortunately none of these magazines except the 
S Gaugian and the Sn3 modeler can generally be seen in the hobby shops.

Kalmbach also has done that with MR vs Classic Toy trains vs their large 
scale Garden Railways.  So generally have left the the narrow gauge only 
segment to a token representation.

I think it's a matter of where one places his money when it comes to 
publication and memberships, as we see this happening when it comes to 
memberships also.  If you belong to the NMRA + NASG + a couple of 
historical societies + RMC/MR + 1/64's + the S gaugian, your talking a 
big chunk of the modeling dollar.  A rough estimate for these items 
could easily be around $400!  I've paid less for some brass during the 
'brass age" in S scale history.
