CPR, which has done a lot of relaying welded rail the past year or two; trains
now increasingly have
a mix of CPR red and the DM&E light yellow and blue. I finally found a copy of
Hirsimaki's Alco Line
book a decent price at a nearby train show last month, not realizing that it
was still actually in print.
The book mentions that the Plainview branch had gotten welded rail with a
federal grant in the early
90's, although after the book was published, history caught up, and the branch
was torn up to become
a rails to trails right of way in the late 90's, leaving only a couple miles as
a spur to store extra covered
hoppers in the off-season.

I expect you used the Oddballs sets? So far as I have determined, they are the
only ones out there.
AM is still selling the CD's on special at $30; I'd bought a C&NW a year or so
ago along with an order
of trucks and odds and ends and just ordered a RI blue with more trucks and
oddments--it will match
the SHS PS-2 in blue.
