Those units suffer IMHO from lack of sound controls--they only have a
handful of volume choices. #1 is too quiet while #2 setting is too
loud. Other units have 255 settings. The running qualities are also on
the crude side. I have them installed on my AM Pa's, so I normally
don't do anything but moderate to hi-speed running. PA's sound is just
okay, as is the older GM's. However I thought the SD-60's setting was
really quiet good. The unit also has a wealth of horns, bells and other
features.
I did a review of the unit for the S Gaugian where I expressed some
benefits--good sound, hi-amperage, and an acceptable price, especially
since a good speaker was included.
