I guess spring is "doom and gloom" season now. The Steam Era freight car list
has a similar thread to the effect that prototype modeling is doomed now that
Westerfield is retired and Sunshine may be planning to quit in the foreseeable
future. This is HO, with a a selection of models in the 100s of different cars
(if you are willing to build resin kits).
Please keep in mind, this is not big-buck styrene injection molding, and any of
us who are competent scratch builders can learn to make a mold to produce
multiple models. Most of us probably don't want to start a for-profit business,
but some form of exchange can develop, or very limited sales to recover
material costs. Unlike the 1960's when AF when away and the most that the
majority of home manufactures could produce was bundles of sticks and a few
stampings or pot metal castings.
