Hi all;

Wow! Pretty heavy flood of posts, which I followed intermittently while on the
road.

I'm happy with the final positive outcome of another chance to make the
Seaboard Turtle Back roof boxcar happen.

** I think it is now time to move on (as some have) to other projects. I hope
Jim King will give the group another update in a month on the receipt of paid
reservations. Meanwhile, as John said, get the word out to non-list members as
best you can! **

I understand some feathers were ruffled in the Hi-rail sub-portion of the
thread. Really, its almost impossible for those of us in the scale side to
comment on what Hi-rail folks want; and I don't really know if there is any way
to clearly comment on that as a group. Hi-rail encompasses a range from
essentially Flyer layouts (but with newer models by AM, SHS, etc) to folks like
Brooks Stover who is essentially "scale" but with big flanges. I suspect Brooks
would have no problem with modifying a scale kit as needed to run on his
layout. I am equally sure there are folks on the scale side who would never be
bothered with building any resin kit. I do think it is up to the hi-rail folks
to make a case for better sales by stepping up, buying a kit at the same time
as urging the manufacturer to consider ways to accommodate them in the future.
Certainly enough such requests together with sales (as opposed to "I might buy
it, but only if it was also Hi-rail
compatible") might make a difference. I might post a poll to try and get a
handle on what Hi-rail really means to our members.
