The cars John is referring to are modeled after U.S.R.A. boxcars re-built with steel sides and are closest to cars rebuilt by Frisco and Atlantic Coast Line/Charleston and Western North Carolina RR. All the other paint schemes are somewhat of a compromise, because the real cars were taller or had different roofs or, in the case of the SAL and a few others, simply were "similar" prototypes that allowed S Helper to amortize their tooling costs over more road names. Most of the big HO manufacturers do this as well. John can make his own ends (I suspect he wants the X29 type riveted flat plate ends), and have a better, not perfect, model much quicker than scratch building the whole thing. Others are perfectly happy with the car as is. Both are fine approaches to the hobby. Pieter E.
