Colloquial/idiomatic, but yes.
Maurer Auctions in Pennsylvania (why it is easy for Bill Lane to keep track of 
them) has quite a few train auctions during a typical year--mostly
tinplate/toys but a fair amount of O scale, including some really major 
collections.  A friend from New Jersey often attends (now that he is
retired) and occasionally finds items worth bidding on.
Without being able to inspect the lots (bad enough on ebay), I hesitate to bid, 
particularly since there is a substantial buyer's premium (and
the PA sales tax, apparently even if the item is shipped out of state).
