I got a contact at the Library years ago. I have planned to send them some
copies of our group photos but have been slow on it.

Rode the Rimatuka. have wanted to send a few bucks to the restoration society
but the DRs always get it. I have a W class kit (unfinished). Would like
a kit for a Fell loco

Did you ever know the local Chemist at Trentham? Cecil Goudy. They had a son.
Mrs Goudy was a good cook
I showed up one day, after she had complained abou the shortage of tea during
the wartime rationing. I had 4 lb of tea. Few of our outfit drank tea.

She loved Walnettos (candy) but had not seen any for 2 years. I said I could
get some. She thought I meant a little pack, but I had the whole carton. Our
PX seemed to get anything.

I have the plans for the Trentham Station. May get another S Scaler to help on
some NZ items on a module. he and his wife have been in NZ and still have not
gotton over it.

Has anyone ever built a K or J and widened the gauge to full S ?

Well back to my Steinlager stash. John Armstrong

We corresponded for 4 years but We lost track of each other

What that guy didn't photograph, wasn't worth photographing! He was a
railroad man based mostly at the Railway Workshops in Petone, near Wellington.
A pioneer of railphotography in this country from around 1900ish. He used his
pass to get to many places, an to get historic photos. A specialty of his was
to get himself in the photo. All his pictures are in the national archives, and
available on line. Search Alexander Turnbull Library, Timeframes, and Godber,
you should hit his work.

place, when it was requesitioned as a Marine Hospital. Even closer to my place,
was the US Navy hospital, which is now converted into a convention center (my
son got married there a few months ago). During those war days, there were two
train wrecks in the area (both at the same place, and with the same locomotive)
that the US forces helped out at. Surprisingly, that same locomotive is now
running mainline excursion trains around the country.

found out Gavin lived in an area We'd be driving through, I got in touch. When
I arrived, Gavin and two of his friends had set up a number of small portable
layouts, mostly Gn15, in his garage. Being an S-scaler I was most interested in
Gavin's Sn3 1/2 "Fernside" module depicting New Zealand prototypes. Gavin's
friend Michael Gee also had a fine display of scratch built S scale passenger
cars and locomotives, also in NZ 42 inch gauge. All the work they had out on
display was top notch. Gavin also had his garden railway up and running, and to
top it all off, full-size Kiwi Rail freight trains were running past on the
track just over his back fence.
