Not really. In order to survive, the three founders equity was almost
immediately diluted to minority status by the addition of outside investors and
therefore control and any S Scale influence was almost immediately lost.
It should be mentioned that S Scale nugget that John and Jerry started to roll,
ultimately morphed into the highly detailed standards of rolling stock that
virtually all model railroaders enjoy today. Although others were doing
seperate details, Intermountain at that time became the gold standard that was
the pattern that most manufacurers followed. Additionally, Intermountain is
directly or indirectly responsible for spawning of other companies. If I think
hard enough, I could probably come up with a name or two.
Although John and Jerry have gotten some recognition from the S Scale
community, I think their influence is considerably broader. There are some on
this list who have also had significant influence in the industry. I won't
mention any names, because I don't want to embarrass Bully or ...., but those
guys are out there.
I should probably stay away from this list and computer for awhile. I haven't
been in the hobby shop regularly for weeks. We have been trying to get a few
things ready for NMRA and I know a quite a few backorders are piling up waiting
for me to track down some detail parts that we buried in our two warehouse
moves.
