Although as I noted, the only 2-8-0 with that number (#1052 on the NYC itself
was a 4-4-0) was B&A class G-6 (later G-16), which lasted until 1950,
which has pretty much the same dimensions as the E-27; cab windows and bell
placement are the only two obvious differences, although there are
a few other details that could be modified by the fastidious (no stairs from
the pilot deck to running boards, apparently B&A cut the coal boards back
to a clear-vision configuration since these were used mostly for wayfreights).
I don't doubt the T&OC used similar types, although it would require
renumbering the cab. I am not sufficiently motivated to rework my SHS NYC
2-8-0, so it will probably remain merely a reasonable approximation.

As I've complimented Don Thompson before, his choice of the basic E-27 and a
careful selection of lettering for other class I roads with similar mid-sized
2-8-0's was
inspired, unlike Weaver, who let the Chinese persuade them to offer a generic
(reportedly based on a Chinese prototype) 2-8-0 that looks nothing like any
recognizable
US locomotive.
