Hi Jace; It looks to me like the Weaver 2-8-0 is copied from the Bachmann Spectrum HO version; which reportedly was modeled after an I.C. engine with a more normal sand dome in place of the square on I.C. prototype.
None of which diminishes the quality or choice of the SHS locomotive. Pieter E.
