According to the latest issue of 1/64 Modeling Guide, which arrived today, Don T. says SHS has enough inventory to weather the crisis until the production problems are solved.
As far as 40' rolling stock, don't sell AF bodies converted to scale short. They saw us through hard times in the past, and they can do the same today. SANTA FE, for one, was still using ice reefers until the late 'sixties. I'm putting the finishing touches on a small fleet of AF converted 46' flatcars, and they don't look too bad, even with my declining standards (See the "Files" section, under "Bob Nicholson"). Also, boxcars from the three major manufacturers are still available.
