Yet once more, Ming the Merciless approves of such a statement with a nod of
his noble head.

(Long, thoughtful pause while Ming the Merciless thinks profound thoughts.
Thoughts thought out, it's now time to share his wisdom with the
peasants....)
SILENCE!
Ming The Merciless will now speak:
I think I agree with that. I too, never really looked at that aspect of
proto-lancing, but I see your point. Make no mistake, I really like the
nice RTR I have purchased that will help me have equipment to utilize
pronto. However, my nice looking SHS factory painted CB&Q SW9 #9271 is
likely in service on many, many other S scale pikes across this globe. Same
with my other factory painted engine. HOWEVER... I'll wager a rather large
amount that I'll NEVER see another S scale Kansas City & Gulf NW2 or S-12,
or whatever else KC&G I create in S scale. That is sort of cool about
proto-lancing/private roads.

I have made peace with my fickleness. For those familiar with my layout's
concept, I decided I would run whatever KC area equiment I think I'm hoss
enough to tackle the creation thereof. NOTHING is currently available
pre-painted for many of the roads I like during the era of my interest.
Think: Mop in Jenks Blue, MKT, KCS, KCT, etc. So, the die was cast pretty
early on in my S scale sojourn that I would be doing a lot of custom work.
No biggie... just time consuming.
BUT... like the fugly little worm said as he wiggled his way through the cow
"field":
"Inch by inch it's a cinch!"
