I think we're chasing a fly with a sledgehammer, here. I run both insulated 
(Atlas conversions) and solid frogs, and have no problems as long as the switch 
is constructed properly. I also "fudge" the point/stock rail distances on 
uninsulated switches to come up with a more realistic 8" (scale) distance 
between stock rails and points with no problems.

I just had an article in the latest 1/64 Modeling Guide describing my 
techniques.
