I've cut gaps in rail with both a razor saw and using a Dremel tool. I can
actually make a thinner cut with the saw by hand, but the Dremel is much
faster and easier. I have a Zona set like the one in the following link and
it works fine for cutting nickel-silver rail.

And I thought every model railroader had some sort of motor-tool and razor
saw.

Subject: {S-Scale List} Cutting Gaps at Frogs

One thing that plagued me on the previous layout was my inability to isolate
frogs. I lack a dremel which is commonly used for such tasks. I am inquiring
to find out if there is another method (cheaper) method that exists such as
using a jeweler's saw. Also how do I obtain a nasg track gauge? The
clearinghouse email is non-responsive. If anyone is curious about layout
pictures, they can be made available.
