Hi Jeff....

Is it therefore correct to state that you want to isolate your frogs so that no
smoke arises from your locos -- ALCO or EMD? Assuming that to be the case,
then it logically follows you have thoroughly investigated the matter and
concluded that integrated frogs were the root cause of the arisen smoke.
Right?

Perhaps you could tell me what facts led to that conclusion. I truly suspect
there is a much easier way to stop these unwanted smoke emissions before the
EPA gets after you. Isolating all your frogs -- especially if your layout is
already built -- is a lot of work.

Was it just one ALCO? Or all ALCOs? Any other types of locos with the same
symptoms? Which specific ALCO was it? What kind of turnout was under the ALCO
when it started smoking -- I assume at an early age. And without parental
consent? Did this smoking occur on all integrated frogs or just one integrated
frog or some-but-not-all integrated frogs?

There are other alternatives to be considered. Some of them are much less
effort.

If you can tell me 'zactly how you concluded that the integrated frog caused
the smoke, we can go forward from there. I am not certain we have a cause &
effect here. If we can eliminate the black smoke, would white smoke be
acceptable? Your problem has a solution. Have no fear.

It is important that we solve the problem and not just attack the symptom.
Just need a bit more information as requested above.

Cheers...Ed L.
