So many advantages to LED¹s: Long lasting, very low power drain, come in various colors, no heat. They are polarized, so unlike a traditional incandescent lamp, it has to be red to red and black to black. Minor inconvenience in exchange for all the other good stuff. Roy

I know they're getting a lot of discussion, use and experimentation in O scale too. One of the fellows on Dave Stewarts A&O website forum is installing these surface mount LED's in the number board chambers of a red Caboose GP9 and as down lights above the trucks. Looks fantastic. The nice thing about LED's is once they're installed correctly they should last for 1000's of hours meaning you don't have to go back in to replace them in a delicate installation.
