That is exactly what I was going to do...  I also have an oversized “Brite 
Boy” that I was going to use on a second car.

I used a piece of masonite (rough side down) epoxied to two roofing nails 
which then float in two holes in the floor of a boxcar (AF X29 with metal 
Ace floor) this just glides along and wipes the rail. Once dirty a quick 
touch up with sandpaper and its good to go again. I made it about tie width 
and tapered the ends to avoid snagging on switch points.
