So did the railroads start pulling the running boards off existing cars right 
away?   

Would sure take care of the problem of getting those PRS running boards 
centered and straight, especially on the 50-footers!

* Running boards were okay'd to be removed in 1966.

* ACI label program begun in 1968.

* Early Consolidated Stencils program into use 1972.

* Revised Consolidated Stencil program into use 1974

* U-1 type wheel stencils (the yellow or white dot on square black 

background) into use 1978

* ACI label program abandoned as impractical 1978.
