Start digging. Buy some concrete block, then create an outside entrance while
you are at it. John Armstrong

Subject: {S-Scale List} keep it simple & accessible

  All,

For those that have been to John Bortz's layout you know to the extent he
went to make his layout. His house was a crawl space which he dug out. Some
sections would have been difficult access for me when I first saw it 20
years ago. I can imagine the layout has not been run in many years if it
even still exists. Further not 1 part of it could probably be considered
  movable.

I am avoiding all of that.

I just got my best look at the placement of the layout in my basement this
morning. I am governed by a support pole that would have been so much better
for me if it was even just a foot in the other direction. There is the
washer/dryer that are straight across from the 1/2 bathroom. So I will have
a few brief tight spots but I will have complete walking access around the
circumference. That fact was more important to me that trying to shoehorn in
a layout that I would have difficulty accessing to get to a derailment in
  the future.

Keeping it simple, doable, movable and accessible..

  Thank You,
  Bill Lane
