Ed,
Check some of the Western Maryland Books and photos.  It is not uncommon to see 
a GP(7, 9 or 35), F7B and an RS-3 as motive power in a consist.

Early on the CSX road slugs were GP30s and 35s perminately coupled to a GP40-2. 
 Not sure in later years if they were moved around.
