UP's last GP35's were in fact ex-WP units. They went on the used locomotive market. They were rebuilt by MK around 1979 IIRC and were very reliable units till UP decided to get rid of them. Having said that, most of the WP GP35's are still out there working on short lines. The museum at Portola would like to get one for the collection but the GP35's won't be leaving the short lines any time soon.
The SD50's on the other hand weren't the best unit out there. Although D&RGW's lasted several yrs long than the MP and CNW units. Seems to me I was still catching ex-DRGW units coming through Sparks in 2007. MP SD50's and GP35's did get into the same consist out of Stockton a few times on the Milpitas local. SP GP35's were removed from the roster soon after UP took over. Their GP35's that were de-turbo charged hung on a bit longer but they too went to the used locomotive market and at least two of them are working still on short lines.
