Yes, I have used this foil tape but, only for it's real purpose, duct work.
It does have an adhesive to it and sticks really well ! Like some else here
mentioned, make sure you don't have to try and remove it.
I'm not sure of the thickness of the foil though. I have some home and will
measure it tonight when I get in.
