Hi Guys:
I too have used some Frenchman River detail parts for my harbour scene, but I'm
a little sceptical about the plausibility of their S scale boat kits.  As near
as I can tell, they are simply using their HO hulls with S superstructures.  As
such, the 50 foot coastal freighter looks like a caricature to me.

Don't overlook the usefulness of the Lindberg shrimp boat.  It scales out to
about 65 feet long, and can be easily converted into other vessels.  I
waterlined the hull and built a Lake Erie fishing tug superstructure, using
parts of the kit's wheelhouse.

I just found an interesting S scale manufacturer, Frenchman River Model Works,
www.frenchmanriver.com . They have marine products in HO, S and O. The S scale
models include a 50' costal steamer , a 68' steel flush deck barge and a
variety of parts. Even the other scale parts are useable as many perts in 1:1
scale come in a wide variety of sizes.
