For those that have not seen a pad printer it is featured decorating a boxcar. I ran one for a while at a computer plotter pen company 20+ years ago. The viscosity of the ink had everything to do with the quality of the print and it changed absolutely constantly. They are a finicky beast. This reminded me of when I toured Tyco in about 1975. Everything was in house from die casting boilers to winding armatures and painting. LOTS of homemade wooden fixtures etc. To test motors was 2 wires attached to 2 nails in a well worn board - high tech all the way!
