Hi Bob and all --
Mantua was taken over by Model Power about the turn of the century. Model
Power made some improvements to the line, but the parts supply disappeared.
They are still listed in the Walthers catalog.
I built several Mantua locos as a kid, and they were very good for the era.
Certainly more reliable than the one Varney loco I got (that was about the
time they really cheapened their product)! For a long time I held parts to
convert the HO 2-6-6-2 into an Sn3 engine (necessary S content), but I gave
that up when I ended up with way too many locos from PBL and others.
Have fun!

. . .and it worked just fine for all those years until someone decided to
"improve" it. Mantua/Tyco was one of the premier makers of fine model
railroad equipment. Where are they today?
