Hi Bill --
In my last trainroom, which was not big enough to handle several speaker sets,
I used DPDT switches to determine whether I got train sound (from PFM systems
on the railroad) or music from the stereo (wires strung from the living room).
The current trainroom has several sets of speakers waiting for the time I have
train sound installed.
Have fun!

If I were having an open house and wanted to "sound off" I would just run
the locos that have sound units. In the next month or 2 I will finally be
running the new layout. I have stereo speakers at each end of the basement.
I will probably listen to music more with the sound units turned off when I
am by myself.
