Good evening!

We are at our place in KEY WEST four times a year and will suggest a route
that eliminates MIAMI and most of congested DADE County.

Last Winter we discovered Don Thompson were visiting just up the Keys
from our place in Key West.  Don and I discovered this fact too late to get
together.  So, we are letting everyone know to contact me off list if you will
be in the KEYS  the last week of JANUARY 2012.

How ro avoid MIAMI and most of DADE Coutny.

>From the NE come down I-95, then;

    1)  Jump off I-95 over to the FLORIDA TURNPIKE (FLTP).  FT. PIERCE is a
good
cross over point.  Fill up with fuel at the Pilot fuel point at FT.
PIERCE before
          getting onto the FLTP.

    2)  Stay on the FLTP to the SAWGRASS TURNPIKE.

    3)  Once at FLORIDA CITY do not fill up with fuel.  They fool tourists and
sell high
priced fuel.  The HESS station on KEY LARGO is much cheaper.

     4) Depending upon where you are headed, take your time and look at the
blue
          green water!

From ATLANTA, come south on I-75 to OCALA, FL and then jump on to the
FLORIDA
TURNPIKE pass through ORLANDO on the FLTP.  Then follow the above instructions
from FT. PIERCE south to KEY WEST.

As Jan says, one day we will get to our place in KEY WEST  and just drop
anchor.

Thanks Don,

I'll check the web to see what I need.

I love the FL Keys also, but there are two problems. First, I remember the Keys
from the fifties when they (and Miami Beach as well) were pretty much closed
and shuttered from June to October except for a few small Mom & Pop motels,
whose proprietors lived on site. Today, there are just too many people! The
other problem with the Keys is that you have to go through Miami-Dade County
(South Florida) to get there! But do come on down, from what I hear, New Jersey
can be crowded too.
