Don't worry, the common scales are for beginners.  S scale is like the
Marines, not for everyone.  MR caters to the common masses, but real model
railroaders model in minority scales, gauges, eras, or prototypes.

Remember:
O (oh) is correctly called 0 (zero).  Does that mean Lionel people are a
bunch of zeros?
H0 is half zero, sometimes referred to by people in other scales as How
Ordinary.
N has no visible small detail at normal viewing distances unless they are
oversized.
