Here at Union Station Kansas City we have an interactive 1:1 railroad museum
and there are several examples of model train gauges, but no S. As the
exhibit was being set up I asked why no S. The response was ³Each train is
on display because someone donated $10,000 or more AND the train. Apparently
no one who made the monetary donation had an ³S² train, if that¹s what you
call it. Let¹s see, that size is smaller than HO, isn¹t it?²

I just said ³no² and walked off.

Moral of the story: If anyone has a spare ten grand to donate to USKC AND an
S scale engine with passenger consist that h/she is also willing to donate,
we could have the scale represented at the second largest train station in
America!

Addendum: We Do have S well represented at the USKC Model Railroad
Experience, three loops running , just not in the prototype RR museum.

With cheer :)

It is not uncommon to go into a museum, store, etc. only to see all the
different gauges on display, like a group of engines, with nice place cards
by each saying what scale or gauge it is and S is nowhere to be seen, like
it does not or did not exist.
