I got to keep all my trains when I got out of my first marriage; my ex got 
everything else of value
(in fairness, she had primary custody of our children, and I had a decent job 
at the time with which
to keep buying more trains).

Just one of the checklist criteria any model railroader should include in 
shopping for a replacement.
My dear new-and-improved model wife actually subsidised my vice, although she 
also offered the
occasional reality-check ("Is that new brass locomotive coming out of next 
month's allowance, or
are you going to sell something of equivalent worth?")
