Hi Butch and all --

The membership directory of the “Dispatch” has seen its last printing.
Taking the lead from the NMRA, the NASG has decided that from a legal
liability sense the directory is a problem.

The “SSGMR” issue is not going to be an every year event (we don’t think),
but I think (this is me speaking, not Jeff M. nor the board of trustees for
the NASG) that those of us who have good photos of our layouts, or can get
good photos, ought to be getting them ready to send to Jeff for inclusion in
such an issue. Bob Werre might have a file of such photos where permission
from the layout owner might be granted (Jeff will have to talk with Bob and
the layouts' owners). I would certainly like to see Roger Nulton, Dick
Karnes, Arden Goering (sp?), Sam Powell, Paul Scoles, Bob Werre and many
others included. The more different layouts, the better in my opinion,
because if we (the S scale community) are to use this issue as propaganda,
we would want to show that more than just a few of us exist. So take
pictures!

Have fun!

I especially like Jeff's idea about producing a "20 GREASTEST "S" LAYOUTS"
magazine like the Kalmbach Greatest Model Railroads.

I believe Jeff is serious about this since he devoted an entire page to it.
He offered several suggestions to pay for it and I think forgoing the
members issue of the Dispatch in lieu of a magazine like this make a lot of
sense to me. I have no idea of the cost to produce something like this, but
I would love to see coverage of fellow "S" scalers layouts and the exposure
for "S" to the mainstream modeling world would be fantastic. This is an idea
that we shouldn't allow to be side tracked. I'm onboard if I can help.

Great idea!

Butch
