Apparently Kadee thinks that there is enough market in O & On3 to invest in the
tooling to produce a new, scale profile metal coupler in those sizes. At this
point, information is sketchy, but this information was posted on their website
"what's new" page a month or two ago. Just to whet your appetite, here's a
quote from "Sam the answer man at Kadee" regarding the "O" standard gauge
version:
"This year we will have a few new items to show like the "test shots" of our
new generation Type "E" "O" Scale coupler which is a scaled down version of our
new line of #1 and G Scale couplers. We'll have a short coupler #743, like the
#806, medium centerset #740 (metal box) #745 (plastic box) like the #805 type,
and now a medium underset #747 (raises the coupler head) and a medium overset
#742 (lowers the head) and also a long centerset coupler #746. These are all
scale metal couplers with a more detailed coupler head and a hidden knuckle
spring."
They haven't said so, but I'm hoping they'll make a version of the On3 coupler
for S scale while they're at it. Perhaps we should send them a barrage of "S"
scale inquiries to remind them we're still here.
I wonder if Frank Sargent is aware of this commitment to scales other than HO
by Kadee?
