Bob,

The large screen is a good idea. I've been wanting to update the monitor
for my model workshop/train layout PC, maybe I should go for a large one.
My son uses a 30" one for his photo editing, which makes most other monitors
look small.

I thought that giving a brakeman/conductor a wireless tablet computer for
turnout control was one option around my issue of needing to control
turnouts from multiple positions.

I periodically get rid of some of my old computer hardware when they have
electronic recycling, but I think I still have some IDE hard drives around,
along with some old floppy and zip drives. Sometimes I cannibalize old
printers, scanners, CD players, etc. for parts like small motors, gears,
drive assemblies, etc. for future layout animation projects.

Bill, I don't own an I-pad (my want soon list) but I just figured it
would be the idea little device to have near the workbench. I imagine
somebody will figure out a way of making it work. Fixing a mount above
the workbench would help with the spilled Cokes, super-glue and brass
filings that plague my little 14" of space!

It would be nice to actually have the plans up on a large (like 27")
screens like the CAD guys have. Because it's nice to build 3/16 models
with G scale plans! Those screens can also be used for virtual control
panels that are the coming things--no strings attached Bob!

BTW, I have four Mac's in my studio, some just to run old, but neat
software and scanners. We also have three at the house that run even
older items--SCSI anybody!
