John,

Things weren't much better her in Houston with the Texan's loosing, so
I'm glad I wasn't making up couplers! I've also had frustrating times
getting those springs to nest properly, then other times everything goes
just right. Personally, I use the 808's on passenger equipment and
certain cars designed for them. I used modified #5's for the bulk of my
freight cars.

Several have complained to Kadee about the 800 style couplers, since so
many modelers have come from HO where the #5 (and similar) has been king
for a long time. To continue, there is nothing wrong with just using
the Kadee #5's for S scale--a pinch small, but you don't hear of that
problem very often.

The SHS coupler, while being RTR also has a slight problem of the
descender (air hose) being loose, so they have problems working with the
magnets.
