With what Dave said below in mind... the concept of a "snubber block" inside 
the spring cavity of the Kadee coupler is the best solution to the problem of 
taking out too much of the slack action, as the length of the "snubber" block 
would merely need to be shortened slightly to ADD more slack as desired.

  If one is limiting the slack in the coupler care should be taken to not make 
it so stiff as to not be able to move backwards when pushing as the 
coupler/draft gear interface is designed with a flat to keep the pushing forces 
in column.
