I'm almost finished with my 1:64 RC model of the towboat `Logsdon' (a heavily modified Lindberg `Southern Belle'), and was looking for some neat barges/barge loads for it to push around.
I found the following picture of a D&RGW K-28 being transported by barge from Seattle, WA to Alaska, where it was to serve on the White Pass & Yukon. http://narrowmind.railfan.net/WPYR/late-steam/250class/250_USA_Seattle_barge.jpg Since there is no other rail equipment visible in the photo, I suspect that rails were affixed to a conventional barge. Anyway, since I intend to make this an operating barge, the risk of this engine getting wet and subsequently ruined make it unwise to use an expensive functioning brass locomotive for this model. I was wondering if any of you knew how to create a non-functioning K-28 that would be better suited to this purpose (as a load). Would it be possible to convert standard gauge HO engine into an S-scale K-28? ------------------------------------ Yahoo!
