I have no Lionel AF or Gilbert AF locomotives, but I wonder if steam locomotive
driverswould also not need to be insulated for two-rail DC as well as needing
the flangesreduced? That is a major problem converting O scale locomotives to
two-rail scale, and when Iconsider buying one for conversion, I have to factor
in that cost (Joe Foehrkolb in Marylanddoes an excellent job, but the last I
had done cost $50 per axle--although worth it).

As for the non-scale wheel tread on ANY type of
steam engine... just out of curiosity... what would be the ideal type machine
to
use for machining the treads to scale... or even for making new tread
from scratch?

Anyone know of an online retailer for such a
machine?

I am NOT interested in anything of a 'Harbor
Freight' quality...
