Ron and list,

The SD70Ace U.P. Heritage units are an interesting and very exciting offering
in S.  My question is the road numbers on the units.  Are these the actual
numbers Lionel will be producing shown in the photos?  For those on the list
that may not know, the U.P. Heritage units are numbered in the year the fallen
flag they are painted for merged into the U.P. system(or with another railroad
now in the U.P. system)......The unit number is equally important as the
paint.  1982 is the Mo-Pac Unit, 1983 is the CNW unit, 1988 is the MKT unit,
1989 is the Rio Grande unit, 1996 is the S.P. unit, ect.....A real shame for
Lionel to ignore that very important detail, but not a deal killer..........

I suspect the SD70Ace is going to be a real barnburner. Although Lionel could
not have known about the NS heritage units when they decided to do the SD70ACe,
they have an incredible opportunity here, especially with folks who favor
Eastern railroads. Up until now, the only the UP heritage units have been done
in multiple scales and have done quite well, especially for fans of UPs'
heritage roads. That hasn't done much for Eastern fans until the NS
announcement. Who would have thought we would have the potential for SD70Aces
in CNJ, Erie, DL&W, RDG, PRR, Wab, N&W, Southern, or even Interstate. There is
even going to be an Illinois Terminal for Illinois fans. We are talking real
live prototype modern diesels for our favorite fallen flag. I bet Don Thompson
would pony up for a CNJ one in blue and orange real quickly. This can be a real
rainmaker for Lionel from the S Scale market, and hopefully drive Lionel deeper
into S.

If you have any interest in seeing Lionel get interested in doing these in S,
drop them a NOTE, Not an email, but a Note on real paper sent through the
postal service. I've observed and learned over the years that email is great
for some things, but far less effective for others. "I wanna" emails get read,
lost, stuffed in suspense folders never to be read again. Real mail gets read
and stuffed into a physical folder that may grow and be noticed. I know that
here, we feel that anyone who takes the time to write a note and lick a stamp
is somewhat more serious that a two day internet email "I wanna" canpaign.

This has turned into a tome too long, but S Scale has become real exciting
lately and its future bright.
