John... I'm a little slow on reading the list, but Earl pretty much answered this question.
The Supply Car kits come with brand new AM P/S body shells, if you need them. They can also be ordered without ($20 less). All of the various underbody parts can be ordered to customize your cars. These are the new/improved Ladd Houda resin castings and Bill's BTS brass parts. I recommend using the new style AM trucks as these are pretty generic 41-N-11 trucks as used on most post 1948 BUDD, P/S and ACF lightweight cars. You need to remove the brake cylinders and add back the BTS brass brake cylinder and torsion bar castings to be prototypical (the AM brake cylinders are too small and are on the wrong end of the truck). These are excellent tracking trucks for all us operators. I also recommend using the AM dummy couplers, except on the head-end cars (if you plan on switching them out), for best operation over less than 48" curves. Like Earl, I'd never thought about the Amfleet cars, as it is not my era and they are anything but my favorites. I have no suggestion for these except to wait for Stan's resin kits for the single level Metrofleet style cars. The body contours are unique to those cars. And then what would you use for trucks. We really ARE short on "modern" S equipment. As for the AMTRAK hi-levels, I would still use the AM body cores, cutting off the roofs and extending the body height with styrene. That's also how I would build the SP/C&NW Gallery commute cars or the ATSF El Capitan hi-levels. More work, sure, but not all that difficult to do. The result would be one great S model. Best!
