Towards the end of the time period that was painting "open air" in the basement and got my paint booth I started using a respirator. That was only for a few years. Now in spite of having my paint booth with 2 fans for maybe 15 years I use a respirator all the time. I even use 1 when I use my blast booth. I used to urge Russ Downs to use a respirator and he finally did after many years. Russ' main health issue when he passed was respiratory & he never smoked.
I guess I am saying it you paint you have to use a respirator at all times.
