Subject: {S-Scale List} Re: Lionel Is Seeking Input From S Scalers

  Ed,

Jon's message wasn't sent to the "O Gauge Guys," it was sent to the S SCALE
discussion board sponsored by O Gauge Railroading magazine, of which I am a
member.

Granted, most of the guys on the S SCALE PORTION of the OGR board are Flyer
oriented and/or newly reformed O Gaugers, but there are some scalers there and
the talk there is 99% of S Scale in one of its various forms, much like this
list was before it was Balkanized into the Scale and Flyer groups.

I'm pretty sure Lionel would prefer that Jon do what he was hired to do and
not spend all his time circulating among the various S Scale boards, SIG's,
facebook pages and whatever.

I passed Jon's request along, unfiltered, as a service to us S Scalers here
in attempt to share information and provide an avenue for input.

  It was my idea.

I didn't HAVE to pass it along.

Maybe I shouldn't have bothered if the prevailing viewpoint is there is no
life outside of our little cloister and the only way we can be bothered is if
they sign up with us.

I could have just let Jon get my viewpoint along some others over in
OGR-S-land, but I have this perhaps misguided idea that folks here would like
to possibly have an impact on what or how Lionel produces S Scale products.

I've provided his email, here it is again:

  [email protected]

Bang... How more direct can contact be?

I didn't post Jon's email in earlier posts a couple of weeks ago because I
had just begun dialoging with him and wasn't sure if Jon would be receptive to
having his corporate email blasted all over the ether.

Especially given the bellicose negativity towards Lionel as shown by some a
few weeks ago...

If anyone only gets the digest form or the entire address doesn't show up for
whatever reason, email me and I'll send the address. Just bear in mind I
usually only check in here in the early evening (Central Time) and weekends.

Jon is willing for direct contact with S Scalers and take their input. The
email address provides that opportunity.

  It's our opportunity to lose.

directly on this List and the S Sig's Forum at www.sscale.org instead of
sending messages to the O Gauge guys and expecting them to be forwarded.
Direct contact with customers is always better than using intermediaries. Good
luck....Ed L.

a DCC decoder (derived from a design I created 8 years ago!) as a swap for our
TMCC radio board. If successful, a one board swap out without any wiring
changes would allow DCC support with our current motor, smoke, and light
controller; and also link to the RailSounds system. Would folks be willing to
purchase the "DCC adapter" to plug and play upgrade locos such as the SD-70,
Y3, U33? Figure costs at $50/board for evaluation of the concept. No
promises, just exploratory feedback - as I may run into some technical issues
in the current board set that prevent this concept from working out..."
