Hi Ben --

While I know there is some exhilaration in contemplating a new railroad, I
think I have seen some photos of your work that say taking this one down isn’t
trivial. Where are you moving? Locally or across country? Retiring?
Will you have the same kind of space, or will you have to down size the
railroad (sometimes a good thing)? I hope you enjoy your new location,
wherever it is!

I missed the second stage of track because I went straight from snap track
to dual gauge HO, which was, out of necessity, a combination hand laid and
commercial track. That situation has not changed, even though I changed
scales more than 30 years ago.

Heading to Flagstaff tomorrow with Nelson Steinmetz (Scottsdale) for the
NMRA division meet. He usually brings a train or two for static display,
and I packed up a short one tonight also. I will also take the usual
assortment of S propaganda...

That would seem to sum it up. I'm about to take down my completely
hand-laid, brass woven layout because we are moving. The new layout will be
SHS flex that I obtained several summers ago during a half price sale and
additional stock when it was clear there wasn't going to be any available
for an undetermined amount of time.

The theory of hording pays off!
