I have a model of a large step-van that was made by Hubley (sp?) back
when I was a kid. It's painted a fairly dark green somewhat darker than
the Kinsman express reefer sides. If someone has the very old S Gauge
Heralds' there was a review of it and several other vehicles. I also
have a 50's Chevy dump truck, both fairly nice even by today's standards.
each model came with decals but I don't think the van had REA decals.
I remember bob-tailed delivery trucks without rear doors but instead had
a chain type gate that resembled the ladder arrangement used in WWII
landing craft. If I could find a way of making that chain gate, I
certainly would make up a couple of trucks that way. I had thought of
some kind of mason's screen but the lack of chain detail and stiffness
were the problems.
In my home town the REA guy was simply a contract guy who met the train,
made his deliveries. After that his truck was used for anything else
that made him a buck. His truck was simply a flatbed with a hoist
'cause he hauled lot's of dirt and coal.

Yes, there was a NASCAR related model of the UPS "Package Car" (I
think that is official UPS terminology) in at least two paint
styles, the one John shows and one with flames on the side (both
correct, although the flame logo was pretty rare in the real world).
Matchbox has had a couple of "modern" postal vans over the years.
There has not been a pre-1980s Post Office vehicle to my knowledge.
