Whoa......hold on there.  

Brass models are heavier than plastic, but can be made to roll very easily.  
The rollability of brass trucks can be greatly improved, with effort, from what 
arrives on the boat.  

Since Bill's layout has no grades of significance, I suspect rollability is 
more important to him than weight. Even the weight of brass and plastic can 
become closer to equal if one strives to add weight to adhere to NMRA specs.  

If any car roll like a cinder block, it is because the owner of said car has 
not taken the time to "work" the trucks so that there are no catches or binds 
or undue friction, etc., etc.  Brass trucks roll quite nicely once worked upon.
