Philip.....
American Model's locos come with a "standard" worm which is not too bad.
However, you can also purchase a "low speed" worm which reduces speed by half.
Ask for the following:
Low speed worm gear on shaft $5.00 GBWSLS
With a good quality decoder, you will not be disappointed. While Tsunami has
great sound, many messages have been written about it's jack rabbit start (only
when going from speed step 0 to speed step 1) and how to solve it. You might
find the main difficulty with extremely slow starts and extremely slow running
(at speed step 1 and 2) to be with the decoder and not the loco.
