Unfortunately, that philosophy is both a blessing and a curse. It does tend to
hold S scale back.
As I look back over what's been made available during my almost 30 years
involvement in S Scale, there's been a phenominal amount of equipment and
supplies made availble.
I have fairly broad interests (plus freelancing,) am not fanatical about the
location of rivets and it's scary sometimes when I look at my photo roster at
what I've accumulated in a scale where "nuthin's available."
Unfortunately, it wasn't all available at a convienient time. It was more a
matter of being in the right place at the the right time.
Hopefully, Lionel and MTH's involvement will create better exposure and
availablility for S, but it still will be a while before one can walk into the
dying breed of local hobby shops and easily find things.
While the internet has made the search easier, but not everyone in the model
railroad world wants to continually have to build, modify or search endlessly
for the majority of their stuff.
